Me too. At least, I used to. As a first generation immigrant, my childhood in the Dominican Republic was idyllic (at least, the way I remember it), and we never worried for money. It wasn't until my parents brought us to the United States that I started to see more directly how much they struggled with money and, as the oldest daughter, I felt responsible to help. The least I could do was "not need / want / ask for much".
The subconscious money tapes were RUNNING! I had patterns, behaviors and beliefs around money that were unhelpful at best, self-destructive at their worst. This encompassed my thoughts about money, my reactions to it, the expectations I held and reinforced, my financial fears, and the language I used, emotions I felt, energies I embodied, and the identity I had created for myself regarding money.
So it was no accident that my first career fresh out of college was as a financial planner/stock broker - I wanted to master the money conversation! And it has informed my 20+ year career as a business and leadership coach. Now the lessons are encapsulated here, where it starts: Your mindset.
